People of different cultures or of different ages may sit in the same musical hall or listen to the same song. This is a good indication of that music brings cultures and age groups together.

The lyrics may also describe feelings that people of any age can have, such as the sorrow at the sight of a loss of life or the defeat when a major failure happens. A listener may therefore empathize with another because of the shared feeling provoked by the lyrics despite the age difference.
