A time I had the best clothes actually happened in a provincial competition.

一次我穿过最好的衣服发生在一次省级的比赛中。

I remember it was during the second year of my junior high school that I participated in a speech competition at school for the first time. I was lucky enough to be selected into the final round, which would be held later at the provincial level.

我记得那是我上初中的第二年，那我人生第1次在学校参加演讲的时候。我很幸运得被选入了比赛的最后一轮，之后会在省级层次举办。

Well, there’s a dress code required by the committee of that competition, and the thing was that I didn’t even have a suit, which made me feel quite edgy. My brother-in-law, who was then an accountant in a company, have an additional one which was his wedding suit. He lent it to me when he knew that I was about to attend such a formal event.

那时比赛组委会对衣着有要求，问题是我那会儿连一套西装都没有呢，当时特别着急。我的当时在公司当会计的堂哥有一套他结婚用的装。他知道我要去参加如此正式的活动就把这套西装借给了我。

Well, the suit was in black, embellished with some white flowery lines on the collar, which was a bit of overwhelming to me though because I had never ever looked that formal. But, it totally saved my life and helped me gain tremendous recognition from both the audiences and the panel of judges.

这西装是黑色的，领子部分装饰有白色线条的花纹，我从来没有显得如此正式，的确把我给惊到了。但是，这西装救了我一命，让我赢得了观众和评委的认可。

The reason why I wore it was that there’s a dress code as I mentioned before and that I had no other choice but had my brother’s suit on. But, it’s definitely the best clothes I wore.

我穿这衣服的原因正如之前提到的，当时有着装要求，并且我当时没有别的选择，只能穿我哥哥的西装。但是，这绝 对是我穿过最好的衣服了。
