The teenager I am going to tell you is my nephew. He is 12 years old and lives in Hangzhou. Before he was born, his parents migrated to that city and rarely come back. So even though I know his existence and his appearance from pictures, I have never seen him in reality.

我要告诉你的青少年是我的侄子。他现在12岁，居住在杭州。在他出生之前，他的爸妈就搬到了那个城市，并且很少回来。所以，虽然我从照片中知道他的存在和长相，我从来都没有在现实中见过他。

Last summer, I got an internship opportunity from a famous company, which is based in Hangzhou. The city is neither my hometown nor where my university is. To save money, I lodged with my brother. In this way, I gradually became familiar with my nephew.

Because of the age gap, we hardly do anything together. But he followed me everywhere at home. When I was studying or working, he would sit next to me and gaze at the book or computer. He seemed to be at the most curious stage of his life, and would not stop asking questions, like “what is this, what is this button’s function, why are you doing this?” If you ignored him, he would just tell you his speculation, very talkative.

Even though he was a little annoying, especially when I was trying to stay focused and finish the job, I liked him. When the internship ended and I returned home, I missed his company so much that every now and then, I would call him and chat for a little while.
