指代不清主要是指代词与被指代人或物之间的关系不清，或者先后使用的代词不一致。试看下面这句话:
Mary was friendly to my sister because she wanted her to be her bridesmaid.(玛丽和我姐姐很好，因为她要她做她的伴娘。)
读完上面这句话，读者无法确切判断谁将结婚，谁将成为伴娘。如果我们明确了容易引起误解的代词的目标，意思一目了然。这句话可以改成:
Mary was friendly to my sister because she wanted my sister to be her bridesmaid.
例. And we can also know the society by serving it yourself.
分析:句中人称代词wee 与反身代词yourself指代不一致。改为：
We can also know society by serving it ourselves.

2. 不间断语句(Run-on Sentences)
什么是run？-on sentence?请看下面的例句。
例.Therearemanywayswe gettoknowtheoutsideworld.
分析：这句话包含了双层完整的含义：“There are many ways.”以及“We get to know the outside world.简单地把它们连在一起是不安全的。
改成：There are many ways for us to learn about the outside world. 或：Therearemanywaysthroughwhichwe canbecomeacquaintedwiththeoutsideworld.
3.措词问题(Troubles in Diction)
Diction 它是指如何在特定的句子中适当地选择单词的问题。由于教学时间的紧迫性，教师通常在这方面花费的时间通常非常有限，这影响了学生在写作中没有形成良好的审查和考虑的习惯。它们通常是无拘无束的，用来使用它们。因此，作文中有无数的错误。
例. The increasing use of chemical obstacles in agriculture also makes pollution.(农业化合物使用的不断增加也造成了污染。)
分析：显然，考生将obstacles“阻碍”、“阻碍物”误作substance“物质”。此外，“the increasing use (不断增加的使用)应改为“abusive use (乱用)。
改成：The abusive use of chemical substances in agriculture also causes/leads to pollution.
4. 累赘(Redundancy)
简洁是最重要的。写句子没有多余的单词；写段落没有不必要的句子。能用词汇的不需要短语；能用短语的不需要从句或句子。例如:In spite of the fact that he is lazy, I like him.
本句的“the fact that he is lazy根据上述“可以使用短语的无用从句”，我们可以将其改为：In spite of his laziness, I like him.
例. For the people who are diligent and kind, money is just the thing to be used to buy the thing they need.
分析：整个句子可以大大简化。
改成：ligent, caring people use money only to buy what they need.
5. 不连贯(Incoherence)
不连贯是指前言不对后语，或结构不畅通。这也是考生容易犯的问题。
例. The fresh water, it is the most important things of the earth.
分析：The fresh water 逗号后的it 不连贯。It 与things 数字上不一致。
改成：Fresh water is the most important thing in the world.
6. 综合语言错误(Comprehensive Misusage)
所谓“综合语言错误”，是指除上述十种错误外，还有时态、语态、标点符号、大小写等错误。
例1. Today, Money to everybody is very importance, our’s eat, cloth, live, go etc.
