和[he]是汉语通用规范一级字（常用字）。“和”常与“龢”通用，二字本义各有所指，“和”始见于战国金文，本义指声音相应和，“龢”始见于商代甲骨文，本义指音乐和谐，后二者在词义引申脉络上有交叉，至于无别。但是用于人名的“龢”不能写作“和”，如清代政治家翁同龢。
