岁[sui]是汉语通用规范一级字(常用字)。此字始见于商代甲骨文,本义其说不一,一说指岁星(木星),一说指割。“岁”在古代有木星的含义。古人认识到木星约十二年运行一周天,其轨道与黄道相近,因将周天分为十二等分,称十二星次(星空区域)。古人根据木星在哪个星次来纪年,所以岁有“年”“年龄”的含义。
