A prize that I desire to win is the first place of the 21 Century English Speech Competition, which is considered one of the most well-known English language competitions in China.

The one who gets the first place will be offered a chance to attend the International Public Speaking Competition held by the English Speaking Union in the United Kingdom, and definitely will also have an opportunity to go sight-seeing in the U.K.

拿到第1名的人会被提供一个机会去参加由国际英语联合会在英国举办的世界英语演讲比赛。当然，也会有机会去英国游玩。

I got to know about this competition and its tempting prize when I was in my first year of college. You know, I was majoring in English Language and Literature, and at that time to get the Championship is considered the coolest thing. I remember a fellow student of our college has got the first place in that competition and she literally rocked the entire university.

Well, to nail it is not that easy. I will have to put a lot of effort and time into practicing English except for the daily lessons that I receive at school. For instance, I need to enhance my language skills and focus heavily on the techniques of delivering speeches. Apart from that, I assume reading something about everything is essential because you won’t become a good speaker unless you are a good reader.

要想获胜并不是那么容易。除了在学校接受的日常课程学习外，我得付出极大的时间和努力来练习英文。我需要提高我的语言技能，然后重点提高我的演讲技巧。除此之外，我觉得读万卷书也很重要，因为只有成为一个好的读者才有可能成为一位好的演说家。

The reason why I long for this prize is not that I really want this fame but that I regard this prize as one of my long-term goal and testimonial of language learning. I know it’s hard but I would spare no effort in getting this prize.
