许多考生可能觉得这个题目问的有些莫名其妙，因为自己在日常生活中不怎么观察植物，也不知道该说什么。其实完全不用那么复杂，也不用说些很稀有的东西，就中国传统上的梅兰竹菊四君子里随便挑一个就好，也容易解释原因。

陈述：我喜欢的我们国家比较重要的植物是竹子。

What it looks like

阐述：小时候在我奶奶家种有很多，他们一年四季都竹子保持着浅绿色(light green)或者深绿色(dark green)，主干(stem)大约有两个手指那么宽，带有细小的枝干(thin branches)伸向周围(stretch out)，叶子有点像橄榄球。风吹过的时候，会随风摇摆(sway with the wind)，发出沙沙的声音。

解释：我喜欢它是因为在中国文化中，竹子通常会和君子(gentleman)联系在一起。许多品质高尚的人会把自己比作竹子，并表达自己对它的喜爱。它中空的主干(hollow stem)象征人开阔的胸怀(generosity);它在风雨中柔韧(pliable)的躯体象征人不畏惧困难，坚持自己的观点。所以我喜欢竹子，希望自己也能够成为一个君子。

An important plant in my country that I love is bamboo, which is tall but slim.

When I was a little kid, I saw a lot of bamboo in my granny’s home. In my memory, they were all in light green or dark green in all year round. You know, its stem is only two fingers wide with very thin branches stretching out, which looks like a rugby. Sometimes, it will sway with the wind making some rustling sounds.

The reason why I am crazy about bamboo is that bamboo usually connected with Chinese culture. You know we always think of bamboo when we are talking about a gentleman. Some noblemen are always regarded themselves as bamboo and show affection for this green plant. The hollow stem is a symbol of generosity. The pliable bamboo also presents people’s strong will of conquering fear and the confidence of holding one’s opinions. I really hope one day I could become a man like this.
