雅思口语part3: Do you think smart people tend to be selfish?
No, I don’t think so. Those people who tend to be selfish are not called the smart ones because they don’t see things in the long run. For me, smart guys know better than the average regarding how things function in society and in interrelationships, they know that being selfish isn’t good for a long term benefit. This article is from Laokaoya website. For instance, the smart businessman Jack Ma wouldn’t become so successful if he’s been selfish, it’s his spirit of sharing and helping others that helped his business become prosperous.

Part3: Why do some people like to borrow things instead of buying them?
Well, the reason why some people like borrowing some stuff rather buying them is that people normally don’t have enough budget to afford those items they desire, and borrowing them with a relatively lower price can kill two birds with one stone, so why not? Plus, this article is from Laokaoya website, since borrowing is more economical, it enables them to get more fancy items to try on instead of just having only one precious thing with a large sum of money.

If you were a parent and you were busy at work, would you take care of your children on your own or hire a babysitter?
-If I was a very busy parent who doesn’t have enough time to take care of my children, I would definitely have them taken care of. I don’t think my parents would be the perfect ones to take care of my children. Because I always complained the traditional Chinese way of looking after the kids when I became an adult. You know, this article is from Laokaoya website, giving little freedom to the kids in case they are in danger, or little creative games that might possibly improve their talents. So, I would probably hire a professional, for example, a babysitter to mentally and physically take care of them.
-Do you think it is fair to let mothers take care of children all the time?
– I don’t think it’s quite fair to let mothers take care of the kids. I am a person who is extremely against the idea of letting kids’ mothers act as the main role of taking care of themselves not only because of heavy burn but also their mothers’ a lack of improving early childhood education if not supported or communicated with other professionals or even their husbands. Also, don’t you think it’s a good idea to let the one who is more capable to take care of them instead of following the traditional mothers being the housewife type custom?
Is science popular in your country?
Yes, as we can see in our Chinese job market, the science graduates have more opportunities to get a decent job with good salary than those students majored in arts. Basically, not only students but also their parents think that science is quite an important subject to learn. In my high school, most students had chosen the arts because they didn’t get good scores at science subjects like math, physics, etc. Plus, only 6 out of 20 classes were arts-oriented classes. So you can see how popular science is in our country.

In what ways people learn about science?
Well, the ways to learn about science are many. We do not only get some academic courses like physics, chemistry and so forth in our high school, but also we constantly get exposure to some media talking about something like what’s the third phase of the moon and how the water got contaminated by the wastes from the factories near our city. I think it is those video clips that pop up in our TV and our computer browsers that really make science vivid and comprehensible to us ordinary citizens.

Would men learn science faster than women?
We usually hear from others that men have better mind when it comes to science. Well, it is true, at least to my knowledge. Maybe men are born with science genes? I remember when I was in the third year of my senior high school, the vast majority of male students took the science subjects, while most the girls were commonly seen at arts classrooms. Girls seem to be more versatile and are not willing to sacrifice their young and beautiful appearance for the unknown and endless scientific research.

Why do some companies want to give the free gift to people?
-Well, I assume the main reason why some companies are willing to send free gifts to people is that companies can get potential customers by having this seemingly long-term investment. For the customer side, they love to get some freebies like they always do and will gradually rely on their product. For example, nowadays, the Alipay, which is most popular online payment application in China has been giving out over 300,000,000 RMB as lucky-money to the mobile users. It is indeed a huge amount of money, but it’s definitely worth it.
What kinds of free gifts they give?
-They have so many kinds of free gifts to give. For instance, the most popular one is the red-pocket, what we called the lucky money. They usually give them out on some social media tools like Sina Weibo websites, tencent wechat or alipay, etc. Well, for most traditional companies, they usually send out some coupons or even their products, sometimes they were out of date though. These products are sometimes daily necessities like rice, oil or noodles, etc. Plus, they also send some plants as a wish of fortune.
Part 3: Do you like any activities on water?
Yes, I love doing some activities on the water. For instance, Kayaking, which is similar to canoeing. It’s not quite common here in China, but you would probably often see it in coastal cities. The reason why I love it the most is that it really challenges my strength and bravery. You have to kind of embrace the fear of the rip current and at the same time learn to cooperate with your mates to make a balance.
Do people in your country go swimming in their spare time?
Part 3: Do people in your country go swimming in their spare time?
Well, I guess not, at least for the majority of the people here in China. You know what, no matter young or old, they are all busying doing something else that’s considered to be the priority like working, playing mahjong, or discussing how to make more money and something like that. If they were asked what sports they would do for leisure, swimming wouldn’t be the first choice for them because they would think it’s not that convenient to go swimming. They’d rather do something easier like playing some mahjong or several rounds of LOL with some good buddies to relax.
Part 3:What is the importance of building gardens?
Well, the value of building gardens lies in the quality of the citizens’ lives. As you may know that almost all the mega cities in China have been seriously affected by the foggy weather. The elderly people couldn’t possibly find some fixed places that have cleaner air and greener environment for doing physical exercises. So, if gardens were built, then this shouldn’t be a problem.
Part 3:How to keep a balance between public places and private houses?
That’s a difficult question for me. Well, take the government in my city for example, one of the implementable measures is to set up regulations to restrict the real estate developers who have intended to have excessive development for houses. This article is from Laokaoya website. If the developers knew the exact percentage of land use for houses, then the balance would be kept.
What measures should be taken to deal with damage to public facilities?
