A tall building I’d like to describe is Huang He Lou, which can be literally translated as the Yellow Crane Tower. It is located in my hometown Wuhan, which is the capital city of Hubei Province.

Well, as the fairy tale goes, the tower originally served as a restaurant which was built by a local businessman who was quite poor at the time. It was a quite ordinary building until an immortal named Wang Zi’an came here and drew a Yellow Crane on the wall which became alive. This astonishingly surreal story had attracted lots of guests and thus pulled the man through. However, the immortal eventually rode away from there on this crane. So, basically, the building was named after the amazing flying creature.

The building is a classic tower-like building but looks very new. I guess it’s probably because the Wuhan Government moved the entire building to another site to prevent it from being flooded by the Yangtse river. It is about 170 feet high which is one of the tallest historic buildings in the city.

这楼是一座典型的塔式建筑，但是看起来很新。我认为或许是武汉市政府为了防止黄鹤楼被长江淹没把他拆迁到新址的缘故。建筑大概一百七十英尺，这在我们家乡算是最 高的历史建筑之一了。

I feel that the main reason why I am quite into this building is that I love the beautiful legend associated with the building. You know, it was the most intriguing local tale I’ve heard since I was a kid. You know, being able to touch the wall just can literally take me back to the magical old time.
