That is why I want to keep digging into it and try to figure out the logic between their contrasting behaviours.

I would like to talk about the sky that I have watched while I was traveling in Canada several years ago.

I saw the sky at the Yellowknife town where there’s a perfect spot for aurora observation. I went there with my best friend from college in 20015. We started our journey in autumn, which was perfect timing to appreciate the aurora.

We actually not only saw the beautiful aurora but also countless shining stars that gave us a clear picture of what the Milky Way looked like. I felt like that was the most impressive sky I have watched in my life. The puzzle I am going to tell you is Lubansuo, also known as the Burr puzzle. According to the legend, this item was invented by the most well-known Chinese carpenter, Luban, more than two thousand years ago as a tool to test his son’s intelligence to see if he was qualified to inherit his skills.

It was given to me by my father as a birthday present when I turned 7. Back then, it was very popular in my hometown because people believed it had the potential to stimulate the intellectual development of children. The burr puzzle had a three-dimensional, symmetrical structure, presenting an image of a cross when you look at it from the opposite, like a cube extending its six sides a little. It was made of six wooden notched sticks, which fitted each other accurately and could be slide easily. At the centre of the puzzle was placed a marble, as a reward for solving the puzzle. I needed to slide these sticks to reveal it and get it out.
